But I can give you an example. Gone with the Wind has several themes. One is the importance of home (land, family, country). Another is the conflict between fighting to survive and keeping your dignity.

Theme is developed through plot (what people do in the story), character (who does what, and what kind of people they are), and dialogue (what people say to each other). Theme can also be developed through setting (where the story takes place), mood (the atmosphere between and around people), and imagery (symbolism).
